Wells Fargo Sports Center Renewal
Summary
This project was completed by Livingston Slone, Inc., which merged with Nvision Architecture, Inc., in early 2020.
The Wells Fargo Sports Center renewal plan was designed to minimize disruption to the athletics programs, administrative offices, and student/community functions within the building. The renewal included correcting code deficiencies, replacing obsolete building systems, renovation and expansion of the Division 1 hockey program facilities, replacement of the aging ice plant and ice sheet, and improvement to recreational athletic facilities that serve both students and the community. The project was completed in two phases over summer breaks. The design of the Chuck Homan Ice Rink features a hybrid Co2/Ammonia ice plant with a heat recovery system capable of supplying waste heat rejected from the ice making process to other functions in the building such as the swimming pool, domestic water system, floor slab heating, and Zamboni ice melt pit.
