Summary

Nvision provided design and construction administration services for the renovation of Special Olympics Alaska’s headquarters in Anchorage’s Mountain View neighborhood. The existing 6,000 SF, two-story concrete block office/shop building was gutted and totally transformed from within. A two-story lobby entrance to the building with an elevator was built, with the front half of the building consisting of administrative offices while the back half serves as a training area. This project was the first of a two-phase process that included the addition of the new Special Olympics Alaska Sports Center, which was also designed by Nvision and constructed in 2013. In sum, the Special Olympics Alaska facilities in Mountain View are the result of the organization’s purposeful investment in the revitalization of one of Anchorage’s oldest and most underdeveloped neighborhoods.
