Pilgrim Hot Springs Historical Preservation
Summary
Nvision provided historic preservation planning, design, and condition survey services for Pilgrim Hot Springs (aka Kruzgamepa), a unique religious and recreational community outside of Nome. Pilgrim Hot Springs is nearing the 100th anniversary of its establishment as a Jesuit Catholic Mission and the 40th anniversary of its addition to the National Register of Historic Places. The purpose of Nvision’s engagement was to provide stabilization recommendations for seven vacant buildings of primary significance to the site. Nvision is currently exploring options for historic preservation, access, and prospective future uses in an effort to breathe new life into this special place in the Northwest Arctic region.
