The Blood Bank of Alaska replacement facility is a state-of-the-art laboratory and donor collection facility that meets stringent federal regulations and is the sole provider of blood products in Alaska. It features Biosafety Level 2 and 3 laboratory spaces that were designed to meet FDA requirements for the separation of tested and non-tested blood as well as specialized spaces for cellular therapies, testing, and hospital transfusion services. The donor-friendly donation space supports easy wayfinding, creates a line of sight staff observation, and controlled protection of donor identity and privacy. Also included is secure storage and a blood mobile garage. Designed to Essential Facility standards including standby generation, stiffened structure, and emergency operations center features.
