Best Buy

Best Buy

Summary

Nvision completed design documents for Best Buy’s first retail store in Alaska. This project began with the demolition of an existing 40,000 SF grocery store in order to enlarge the overall footprint of the new store. Features of the 50,060 SF store include: heated front walkways, exterior retail display, a flush in-floor cable trench for electronic hookup flexibility, contemporary suspended signage systems, an in-store auto installation department, and a large storage warehouse. The design addressed multiple site issues, especially in areas directly adjacent to the building. New landscape features surrounding the store improved the environment and served as an excellent model for Anchorage’s “Big Box Store” Ordinance. Best Buy was the first large retail project to comply with Anchorage’s new design criteria, and as a test case for the Municipality of Anchorage, the project underwent several preliminary reviews with the planning staff prior to formal review submittal.
