ANC South Terminal Ground Transportation Lobby Renovation

ANC South Terminal Ground Transportation Lobby Renovation

Summary

Nvision is providing planning, design, and construction administration services for upgrades to the Ground Transportation Lobby at the South Terminal of Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Central to the project is a redesign of the superstructure and glazing envelope of the exterior stair and escalator enclosure of the parking garage located along the airport’s two-level frontage for departures and arrivals. Nvision’s design replaces the entire glass enclosure with a new exterior envelope system, as well as a steel structure that incorporates full-height curtain wall facades and a tiered prism of forms that rotate slightly along the shape of the adjacent parking garage. The continuous open volume of space within the existing escalator and stair enclosure is preserved, with height added to increase the grandness of scale. Renovations to the elevator tower’s exterior curtain wall system will incorporate the additional height, rectangular shape, and extent of the new enclosure. New exterior finishes will be fully integrated with the interiors, resulting in a cohesive, clean, and modern aesthetic. All interior finishes, including four entry vestibules to the parking garage within the elevator tower, will be refreshed, renovated, and upgraded along with all lighting and signage.
